The 'Heroes 2 C' Project is a joined collaboration between De Steenschuit, the Medway Queen Preservation Society and the Association Tourville. The Medway Queen Preservation Society is the lead partner and responsible for administering the 'Heroes 2C' project. The three partners each have their own projects but together they have formed a partnership to receive funding through the European Regional Development Fund - in casu the so-called "Interreg IVA 2 Seas" initiative. The Association Tourville is currently building a replica 18th century man-of-war ship called 'Jean Bart'. The association is based in Gravelines near Dunkirk.
The Medway Queen Is a paddle steamer built in 1924 on the River Clyde in Scotland. She sailed in the estuary waters of the River Thames and River Medway. She spent all her World War II years as requisitioned minesweeper sweeping the shipping lanes in around the English Channel. Her finest moment came in 1940 when she made a record-breaking seven crossings to the beaches of Dunkirk rescuing 7000 men. Her bravery and that of her gallant crew was what gave her the title of 'Heroine of Dunkirk".
De Steenschuit is a social, training shipyard in Boom, Belgium near Antwerp and they are building a working replica of the 19th century Antarctic exploration ship called the 'New Belgica'. The vessel constitutes one of Belgium's most precious maritime heritages: it was the ship on which the first scientific Antarctic expedition took place in the years 1897-99 under the Belgian navy commander Adrien de Gerlache. It spent an entire winter caught in Antarctic ice: the first vessel to spend a winter in the South Pole area. South pole discoverer Amundsen and North pole explorer Frederick Cook were members of the crew.

Le projet "2 Mers" englobe une collaboration entre l’association ‘De Steenschuit’, la ‘Medway Queen Preservation Society’ et l'’Association Tourville’. La Medway Queen Preservation Society est le principal partenaire, responsable de l'administration du projet. Les trois partenaires ont chacun leurs propres projets, mais ensemble ils ont formé un partenariat pour bénéficier d'un financement par un programme de l'Union européenne "Interreg IVA 2 Mers".
L' Association Tourville entreprend la construction d'un vaisseau de premier rang de la marine royale de Louis XIV (17 ème siècle) le ‘Jean Bart’, au sein d'un parc historique et de loisirs à Gravelines, ville fortifiée située entre Dunkerque et Calais.
‘De Steenschuit’ est un chantier naval de formation sociale à Boom, près d'Anvers en Belgique, ou l’on construit une réplique de la ‘Belgica’, un bateau d'exploration antarctique du 19ème siècle. Le vaisseau était la base d’une des premières expéditions internationales polaires sous commande d’Adrien de Gerlache. Le navire était le premier à passer un hiver dans les glaces polaires près de la péninsule antarctique (dans la mer de Bellingshausen) en 1897-99. Scott et Amundsen faisaient parti de l'équipage, ensemble avec plusieurs scientifiques de la Belgique, la Pologne et la Roumanie.
La ‘Medway Queen Preservation Society’ entreprend la restoration d’un bateau à aubes construit en 1924 sur la rivière Clyde en Ecosse. La Medway Queen a navigué dans les eaux de l'estuaire de la Tamise et de la rivière Medway. Elle a passé toutes ses années de guerre en tant que dragueur de mines dans les voies maritimes près de la Manche. Le bateau est entré dans l’histoire en 1940 quand il a fait sept passages vers Dunkerque pour sauver 7000 militaires brittaniques. Sa bravoure et celle de son équipage lui a valu le titre de “Héroïne de Dunkerque”.

Het '2 zeeën project' omvat een samenwerkingsverband tussen De Steenschuit, de 'Association Tourville' en de 'Medway Queen Preservation Society'. Deze laatste heeft de leiding van het verband en is verantwoordelijk voor de administratie.De drie partners werken elk aan hun eigen scheepsproject maar hebben samen een succesvolle aanvraag ingediend bij het Europees Regionaal Ontwikkelingsfonds Interreg IV A 2 Zeeën, een initiatief dat onder meer grensoverschrijdende maritieme erfgoedprojecten ondersteunt aan weerszijde van de Noordzee (in dit geval: Vlaanderen, Noord Frankrijk en Z.O.
